Commodity imports surged to Dhs 99.2 billion in 1996 where it was Dhs 96.0 billion in 1995. The Asian countries have topped the list of exporting countries to the U.A.E. as exports stood at 44.5 per cent followed by European countries at 33.8 per cent, American countries at 13.0 per cent, Arab countries 6.1 per cent, Oceanic countries 2.0 per cent and African countries 0.2 per cent respectively.
